Come join us in the cool eastern mountains of West Virginia for the eighth annual Alterra Knap-in. The event is hosted on a 100 acre farm by Bob Hoffa and Tenley Shewmake.
All knappers and primitive technology enthusiasts are welcome. Activities will include knapping, archery, atlatl, and campfire storytelling. This year, we’re featuring a knapping “sandbox” where potential future knappers can test their skills.
We will also have a guest speaker this year! Philip Gains, an expert on animal hunting companions, will be speaking on the history of man and predatory animal hunting teams.
We’ll provide fresh water and firewood as well as hot food Saturday evening. Pot luck side dishes are appreciated, but not required. Camping is free. Fire pits will be provided. Don’t forget your camp chairs. We’ll provide fresh water and firewood as well as hot food Saturday evening. Pot luck side dishes are appreciated, but not required. Camping is free.
